The Parents
Daisy posted this pic. I stole it and re-posted for your viewing ... pleasure??

I told her she needed a pic of us to put up in her dorm room. I don't think she agrees, but here's the pic anyway. LOL. Maybe she'll put it in her wallet, or something. :)

We were in Denton, at the IHOP.

opinion -- free gift
Last time I did the Harvest Art Fest, one of the things I offered for sale was fridge magnets. I am not going to offer them this year because on the fridge they fade within 6 months. At least on my fridge they did.

I have some leftover though, so I want to offer them as "free gifts with a purchase of $X." What should that X amount be?

I can't give them to everybody because I only have 2 or 3 dozen left. However, I don't want to make it so much that folks spend more money to get one, just to see that it fades in a few months.

As an example of the prices of what I'm selling ...
bookmarks $2.00
single blank inside greeting cards $4.00
Card sets (10 cards in a box) 25.00 (there are only 3 or 4 of these, and they'll be marked "Sale")
4 x 6 matted prints 10.00
5x7 matted prints 25.00
bookplates (set of 15) $6.00 (sale, normally $8.00)

So a free gift for what amount? They'll be able to pick their own magnet from a pile. Or should I skip the idea and give them away to kids?

Any and all thoughts on the whole art fest thing are appreciated.

Essie gets a photoshoot
Thought y'all might enjoy getting a peek at the travelling crab, now that she (note: No, I do not know if she is a she or a he, but I think of her as a she) is home safe and sound.

Lift the shell... )

Bookmarks
A wonderful lady on my flist makes these bookmarks. She's an artist, so she draws them with all sorts of media. She's selling them for a very reasonable price and she sends 'em out fast. I bought some and love them, they are even prettier in your hand than on your screen.

Click the link to see [info]ilenebook's bookmarks, then go to her journal to tell her which ones you want.

Newest ones are on the bottom

ETA: I just noticed she has her email on the top of the page, so you can let her know by email which ones you want, if you prefer.

Glorious!
OMGorsh this rain is glorious! It smells wonderful and feels great! I can feel my corner of the world giving a big sigh of relief and comfort. It has been dryer than I have ever seen it in this area in my ... um ... 31(?) years of living here. Things just crackle and fall apart when you touch them, especially nylon rope. Makes a big straw-looking pile. The world steals moisture from wherever it can get it. The dog's water bowl and the bird bath must be filled daily, sometimes the bird bath needs water twice a day. All my fish tanks loose about 2-3 inches of water each week ... unusual. Birds have been coming into the house to drink from the fish tanks. (Don't worry, I covered all the tanks with fish small or stupid enough to get eaten. I left Harry's tank open, cuz he's bigger than any Wren any day, and he has hiding spots. The still loose inches of water though.) Sound travels in wierd ways because the air is so dry that there is no buffer. Deer are coming right up to the house because we water the plants, and they smell the water and hope to get some. Jeff ran some water out in the shop the other day, and we could smell it all the way up at the house. All three of us girls at the same moment go out to the porch to see where the water smell was coming from. We were hoping for rain, to no avail. Burn bans still in effect, and I've read that unless it really pours for 10 days in a row, the burn bans will stay for the next three months. Of course, that'll be time for the dry season to start!

Yeah for the rain, and thanks to the Goddess!!
